Vampires were created by the concept of Death in hopes of returning her dead priest to her. They were created by music thus it plays an important role in their society.
Songs
A vampire will only sing four days before the approaching death of someone in the family they are connected too. For the heads of the city-states, the vampire only sings for the death of the creative concept or their counterpart's current body because the destructive concepts are immortal. For Life and disease, it is the King and head of Nesa. For Death, it is the head of the city-state of Via as well as War his counterpart. For Magic and Madness, it is the head of Aplia, Fate and Chaos is the head of Shrine. While the head of Zasas is for Imagination and Manipulation, Nature and Decay are sung for by Iayilas.
As time moved on and more vampires were created they began to sing for families. A vampire being attached to a family line for various reasons some because it was there a line, some because of a loved one being from it, and sometimes a strange unknown twist of fate binding them to a line. Each vampires song is different and beautiful. It is sad that they can sing small parts of the song to defend themselves by stopping the heartbeat of a living person but the whole song can only be sung in the announcement of death.

Death
When a vampire is created a part of their power is shared with the fledgling. When they die the final death they turn to dust and that power is returned to their creator or creators creator all the way down the lines to Kyriakos himself. All power eventually will return to him. Those he created himself have the strongest connection and the greatest power, the power being diluted as one gets further from his line.
The Festival of Light
Once a year there is a day of all daylight during the Festival of Light on that day or before it a vampire will steal a person who they will keep for twenty-four fours. During this day hidden away with them only allowing them to leave the next morning. They don't kill them but they do feed off of them and sometimes other things though many consider it an honor to be kidnapped.
