Asmiara: Winter Court

The Winter Court is in charge of the season of winter and indirectly in charge of the Autumn Court which is connected to it. North is the direction of Winter and water is the element that is connected to it. Water that frozen becomes snow. In the life cycle winter is old age or death but it is more than that. It is quiet, a time to reflect. The wisdom of ages and preparing for a cycle to begin anew.

It is a time to slow down, A time to seek out the company of others and see the stark whiteness of the beautiful frozen world. Winter fae tend to be honest to a fault sometimes to the point they appear cruel. Some say they are cold like their season and have a hard time relating but they are also warm and caring to those who find a way in. They are clever and imaginative. Having a love for patterns and they dance in the cold moonlight barefooted in the snow.

Winter is honest and brutal at times. It hides little of its true self. And it shows its beauty on the ice of the windows, the icicles that hang down and celebrates the unique with each snowflake. While it is often misunderstood in the end it loves the unique and finds beauty in it but more than that it pushes you to be just as you are.

After the last Winter Queen died without warning the new one was nowhere to be found. The court was concerned until it was discovered she had been born a human and was becoming a fairy. This rather strange turn of events while not unheard of was uncommon enough and among others lead to the restructuring of the court hierarchy when Iclyn a woman some thought should have been queen instead of the previous returned and declared her own court. It was this along with other factors that led Irial to believe it was time for a change.

Thus the Queen that Will Always be was created, also called High Queen of Winter. and Eternal Winter Queen. She who is connected the most to winter feeling it so much a part of her that it seems as if it has always been apart of her mostly just in charge of winter. Her domain is the cold, icy places of the world. Connected to her is Winter's Consort, or The Consort of Winter, or Ambassador ton Winter. He helps the queen to look after the court and serves as a go-between from her and the other Winter Queen. These positions are beloved to be eternal. For no fairy embodies winter more.

The Queen that is, or the Winter Queen, also known as Queen of Winter is as it has always been. She rules the court for a set time. They no longer know if it will be set or not or if she will be replaced when a new queen is found or if a new queen will just be there in case she dies or something. But her role is to take care of winter as the changing season and watch over the connected court of fall from which her knight is king.

The queen in training is called The Queen Who Will Be or Winter Princess, or Princess of Winter. Whether she will always be a princess or will someday become a queen depends on many factors. They are not sure and only time will tell the truth.
